Celebrating Slow Wins: Carmen Bohoyo's Approach to Crafting a Meaningful Career

Headshot of Carmen Bohoyo in a brown top

“Life is this grand adventure, isn’t it? We start off thinking we’ve got to conquer the world in our 20s and 30s ticking off all the boxes. Now, I have come to realize that every twist and turn, every experience you gain matters more than we give credit.”

.Carmen Bohoyo, a powerhouse in retail, travel, and hospitality dropped some serious wisdom and life lessons during her photoshoot.

“If only I'd known this back in the day, I could have spared myself loads of anxiety and those bouts of feeling ‘meh’ about life and work. We are living in a world that celebrates quick wins and overnight success. Sure, some rockstars reach the ceiling early but don't sweat it if you're success train takes a scenic route. Having a plan is awesome but equally crucial is doing something you love where you can soak up lessons and stay true to your values. It's like a puzzle piece of you that might come into play now, next year, or even two decades down the road – but trust me, it will happen.

“Now, let's talk about work and values, pick gigs and environments that vibe with your core values. I didn't get that memo early in my career, but trial and error have their lessons. Aligning with your values is a secret sauce for happiness. Without it, you're not going to sparkle and savor life.

“Fast forward to today, and I feel like a different version of myself - more in tune, more connected. For my recent headshots, I wanted the ‘today’ Carmen to shine. And you know what made the whole process a blast? The fab experience with Alissa. The wardrobe chats, the pre-shoot banter - it was like hanging out with a friend. With Alissa’s support, I strutted into that photoshoot armed with a variety of outfits and photo ideas.”

Thanks, Carmen, for sharing your wisdom with us.
