Yes, I work throughout New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Boston, the Washington D.C area and Connecticut.

  • Do I have to pay a deposit?

All sessions require a non-refundable retainer paid at the time of booking. This is standard industry practice and reserves your studio time.

  • Why aren't your prices listed on the site?

Send us an email, or call. That allows us to know exactly what you need and price accordingly.

  • How do I book?

You can call or fill out this form for an individual session. Once you’ve paid your deposit, we’ll schedule your wardrobe styling consultation, and you’ll receive a confirmation email with all the details you need to prepare for your professional headshot.

  • What if I need to reschedule?

Please call 917.921.2491 or email alissa@allaboutheadshots.com, giving more than 72 hours or four business days’ notice.

You may reschedule your session one time without loss of the non-refundable fee.

I understand emergencies happen, and will work with you to reschedule your session. However, if your session is cancelled with less than 72 hours/four business days’ notice, the session fee will be forfeited and another session fee will be required to move your photo session to a new date. When a session is cancelled with such short notice, it doesn't allow us to help other clients timely.

  • How long is each session?

For individual sessions, allow two hours for hair and makeup at the studio or another venue, and two hours for the shoot. If you aren’t having your hair and makeup done, allow two hours for the shoot. If you need a shorter session just let us know when you book.

Corporate sessions are different. We can discuss this when we chat.

  • How many looks does that include?

With the individual 2-hour session, you have unlimited wardrobe changes within the previously stated timeframe.

For the shorter session - 1 or 2.

  • What is your scheduling policy?

I typically book three or four sessions a day. You’ll never be shuffled out of the door to make way for the next appointment.

  • When will I get my photos?

You’ll get your professionally retouched headshots within two weeks via Pixieset and/or WeTransfer. Images you purchase will be kept on our system for one month, after which they’ll be deleted. Images you choose not to purchase will be deleted following your session.

  • How many images do I get?

The number of headshots depends on the package you choose.

  • Do I need to wear makeup?

The aim of a great headshot is that it captures you, not someone who looks like a stranger. Although light makeup can help even out skin tone and reduce glare from the lights, always do what makes you feel most comfortable.

  • Do you provide hair and makeup?

We can. Just let me know when we chat that you’d also like hair and makeup.

  • What should I wear?

Think about where your headshot is going to be used and who’ll be seeing it. Will it be hiring managers, contacts on LinkedIn, casting directors or potential customers? Will you use it as a profile picture on Facebook, Instagram, or a dating site? Is your industry formal or more creative and casual? The simplest rule is to wear clothes that are appropriate for your audience and industry, and make you look and feel great—but most importantly, look like you. Bring a selection of your favorites, avoiding bold patterns and graphics. Earth tones work really well. Pastels do, too, if you love them. Don’t worry if you’re not sure what to bring. I can help you pick out the best outfits.

  • When do I get my photos?

After the shoot, we’ll sit down immediately following your session and choose your best shots. From these you decide which photos you want to purchase. I can weigh in as much or as little as you’d like. Your choices will then be professionally retouched and sent to you as high-resolution JPEGs within two weeks. We provide different sizing crops for social media platforms and other formats, so you’ll have everything you need.

  • Why do you retouch photos?

To reassure you, professional headshot retouching is minimal. We simply remove stray hairs, blemishes and dark circles under the eyes. The finished image looks natural and genuine.

  • 100% Happiness Guarantee

I want you to be 100% happy with your headshots. On the day, if you don’t see images that are just what you want, let me know. Our session is built to allow us time to shoot headshots until you have plenty to choose from.

  • Giving Back

It’s important to me that everyone can be empowered by a professional headshot. That’s why I started Get One, Give Back. I donate free headshot sessions and images to the Food Bank of New York helping their clientele achieve self-sufficiency. This New York-based nonprofit works with people in the local community facing poverty. If you’d like to know more about their work, check out their website https://www.foodbanknyc.org.
