Owning the Future: A Fintech Advisor’s Leap into the Gig Economy
“Meeting and working with Alissa and her makeup artist, Lisa, was wonderful. My experience was great!” That is what Diane Sherman, MBA, Fintech Advisor, said.
“I no longer work in a traditional job structure. I am a finance and Treasury advisor who loves the start-up space, working with fintechs, as well as demystifying financial health. It is energizing and full of discovery. We are trusted professionals sharing skill sets, and we become a circle of trust with our own validation and credentials. Mindful of social impact and work-life balance, it is still all hands on deck. Together, we build something amazing!”
As Diane explained her current interests, she said, “I work with blockchain and other emerging types of financial technology. This is an exciting time in the financial industry. There is a new wave of how business technology is being built. One of my main interests is web3 technology, decentralized and built on blockchain. Users can control their data, digital assets, and identities without relying on central intermediaries.”
I am more on the finance side. I help move our current banking systems to innovation. I think of myself as a connector of the traditional to the future state. That is my lane, along with working in financial advisory.
Formerly in a hierarchical structure, Diane is now a part of the gig economy. “I’m promoting my autonomy to earn a living in a most fulfilling way. It has been rewarding to experience working in this environment.
Since my career transition, it is interesting to find how many folks want to shift similarly, but they are scared. It is scary to make a change and step into a new professional chapter. But when you realize your identity is not your title and not who you work for, that is truly when you understand your gifts & superpowers. That realization took me a while!
My encouragement is this: it is never too late to tap into your superpower. Most of the time, that is what makes you happy.
My superpower is collaboration. I work well with intellectually curious individuals, sharing the autonomy to do what feels right and good. That is what I’m looking for. Great work with great people.
Alissa and I worked on the branding of my independent financial advisory service. I felt super comfortable & empowered: like Captain Marvel!
I chose a variety of shots—some professional and some in a t-shirt and sneakers to reveal the shades of Diane - limitless! The pictures reveal my inner transformation. I love that!”
